French Update


Friday, February 27, 2015
Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents
Here is the news from the French class.
Our daily routine is drilling the vocabulary related to our daily activities. We are talking about activities at school or at home. Al Hamdulillah, students are gaining self confidence in speaking French during French class.
In class, we worked on 2 important grammar structures: contraction and double verb construction. We finished the last activities related to the story “Un Jour Bizarre”: Écris l’histoire avec des mots different and the play presentation. We have started our new story “Chat Angora”
Update:
  • Tuesday, March 3, we are having the 4rd French test: spelling, grammar.
  • The spelling list for Tuesday is:
  1. Je veux jouer avec toi.
  2. Tu commence à comprendre la leçon.
  3. Je vais à la patinoire pour patiner.
  4. Il va boire de l’eau.
  5. Elles aiment courir dehors.

Feb 20th-27th

as salamu alaykum,

Sorry for the late update. I have been busy with responsibilities outside of the class, which will continue into early next week in shaa Allah.

IMPORTANT
- Re-registration forms have been sent home today. Please return your form before March 31st to secure your spot for next year in shaa Allah.

Language
Comm Skills pg 111-121 due Monday

The students should continue working on their Oral Speech Kit booklet.
*Use some of your weekend to do research at the library. On Tuesday (Feb 24th) we will have additional time to research in the school computer lab.

Social Studies
The students are preparing to have a class election. At the moment, they have started thinking up their political parties. They will develop their parties' main opinions on key issues. Come up with campaign slogans/promises. Nominate candidates to represent their party in the election, and more!

Islamic Studies
This week the students read about Muslims online in their textbook, and were then asked to create PSAs aimed at informing Muslims of useful online-resources and/or how to protect themselves & stay safe online.

Math
Workbook pg 41

Alhamdulillah, we have concluded Chapter 3 (Data Management), and we will have a quiz on Tuesday, Feb 24th inshaAllah in lessons 4, 5, 8, 9, and Stem-and-Leaf plot.
We started introducing Chapter 5 (Measuring Length and Time) yesterday Friday, and we will go more in depth next week inshaAllah.

Science
Doctor Worksheet due Monday

We've concluded the lessons on Circulatory System and most of the students submitted their assignment on the pioneer doctors in the study of the heart. Reminder to those who missed that: deadline is Monday for 5A and Tuesday for 5B.
Next week, we will start our work on the musculoskeletal system inshaAllah, and we have a physiotherapist coming on Thursday to present a workshop to the students. Jazakumullahu khairan Mr. Baharoon.

Feb 2 Update

Assalam Alaikom Dear Parents.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Jazakumullahu khairan.

Here is our latest from grade 5:

Science:
We are still working on Body Systems.
Alhamdu lillah, we have concluded our lessons on the digestive system last week, and started introducing the circulatory system.

Math:
Last week the students worked hard on mastering their long division, and mashaAllah they did an excellent job.
Next week we will start working on data management (Chapter 3), followed by measurement of length and time (Chapter 5) inshaAllah.

Language:
We are continuing our work related to persuasive writing and techniques.
Well done to all the students for completing and handing in your autobiographies and essays.
Comm Skills: 94-99 due Monday
Spelling Workbook 98-103 due Monday
Spelling List #13 (test on Monday)


Social Studies:
We are learning about the different levels and roles of the Canadian Government in preparation for our trip to Parliament next week in shaa Allah. If you haven't yet done so, please don't forget to hand in your field trip forms ASAP!
