TALENT SHOW 2015

The PST is happy to announce the Abraar Talent Show coming April 28 inshaAllah!!! Event posters have been put up around the school and we hope you and your students have checked them out :) Please talk to your child and encourage them to participate in this event and consider joining in on the fun yourself!!! This year auditions will be submitted electronically only. Please go to the PST blog for more details on submission form and procedure. Don't forget deadline for submission is April 7 @9:00 pm inshaAllah.

SCIENCE FAIR

Congratulations to all the Science Fair participants on showing your skills and learning. Your hard work and effort really showed! May Allah increase you in your beneficial knowledge and lead you to success with all that you are learning. Ameen!

Subject Updates:

Social Studies: Students are working on the "Grade 5 Elections". So far candidates have made their initial campaign speeches. We are now looking forward to press conferences from candidates, news reports on the election, and supporting campaign ads/skits.

Language: We are continuing our work with speeches. Not only will we incorporate our learning in the Social Studies Elections, but also in our preparation for the Annual Speech Competition.

Math:  update coming soon

Health/Science:  Students are starting a cross-curricular project where they will be designing a new product packaging for a health-promoting product.

I have noticed that a few books have come back to the library "repaired." I would kindly request that parents do not attempt to repair the damaged books, because I have special material that I use to repair the damaged books. However, informing me of the damage would be greatly appreciated.

Pi Day/March Break

Salamun alaykum parents.

Alhamdulillah, grade 5 had a great week before heading out to March break.

Yesterday, they had a very interesting presentation from Dr. Gehan Ibrahim about the skull and central nervous system (function and pathology). Thank you Dr. Gehan and jazakAllahu khayr for your time and effort.

Friday, all enjoyed delicious pies and fun activities in celebration of "Pi Day". A big Thank you to all the parents who sent the scrumptious pies. JazakumAllahu khayran. 

In addition to that, we were able to collect lots of items for Sadaqa Food Bank!! Alhamdulillah! What a way to end the week!!

Reminders to students:

• Monday, March 23rd, bring you Science Fair materials. You have two periods to work on them at school.
• Start working on the Science assignment (Diseases and Disorders) as the due date is Monday, March 30th.
• Read. Don't forget your Reading Logs
• Help your parents and HAVE FUN!!
• Lastly, if you haven't handed it to Tr. Mohammad, he's still waiting on a few more good copies of Language Speeches Monday after the break.

Mar 9th Update

Language

The students will be integrating their knowledge of news reports and speeches to create short news clips inspired by our Social Studies election campaigns.

Social Studies

Candidates will begin presenting their party campaign speeches.

Math

Alhamdu lillah, we concluded chapter 5 and we are having a test on Tuesday, March 10th inshaAllah.

Students should review lessons 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, and Circumference of a Circle (this one, students should study from their notebooks not from the book).

Science

On Thursday, we will have a simple quiz on labeling some of the major bones in our body. Students are required to study page 11 from their duo tangs.
